You may say this is the end of a chapter in Metta’s life, you might say it’s the beginning of another. But I can say for sure that I am looking forward to the next one with optimism for Mr. World Peace.

Read Baller Shots’ take on the MWP-Harden incident and think before championing the lifetime expulsion of someone for a mistake. It was a dreadful mistake (one that has no place in the Laimbeer/Oakley/Mason pantheon of toughness), but MWP’s mental health problems shouldn’t be overlooked. The whole reaction to MWP is almost as sickening as the actual elbow. He was not intending James Harden harm. I believe him when he says that, but you’re going to believe what you’re going to believe. Just do some googling on Artest or Metta World Peace to get some backstory before launching an offensive against him as a player and a person. He has been, and will continue, trying to figure out what makes him tick and why he sometimes does things like what we saw Sunday night.
I’m really hoping he finally finds some peace. He’s still the Queensbridge kid who gave props to his shrink after the biggest shot of his career. Ron Artest is not the sum of two incidents. None of us are that simple.

I feel so bad for him sometimes because he really does have a mental disorder, that’s why he as a psychologist. And when you’re in the heat of the moment, you just can’t control yourself sometimes. I really hope he takes this as another lesson because he’s an amazing defender.
